History of Poco Pico

PocoPico.com had its humble beginnings when I was living in China and wanted to share some of what I was experiencing over there. The name "Poco Pico" was the name of a very old horse who used to wander the hilly regions of the cross-country course.

Pocopico was featured in a front page article about Chinglish in the Wall Street Journal (Feb. 5, 2007). I was also interviewd by National Public Radio for a Feb. 12th, 2007 edition of Here and Now, with Robin Young. It's also made some appearances in Chinese media.

Technical Details of PocoPico

This site was written entirely by hand using only a simple text editor. It ATTEMPTS to meet the standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for XHTML and CSS 2. If you've ever hand-coded a page and tried to make it look readable in both standard compliant browsers AND Microsoft's Internet Explorer, you'll forgive me as I include a little tip of the middle finger to Microsoft for not following international web standards.

In the spring of 2007, I unrolled a massive update to the core code of this web site and I shifted all layouts and complexities over to the Yahoo User Interface, an open source collection of stylesheets and animation tools.
