Golgotha
Golgotha : Info
Completed Sept. 18th, 2001. Influenced by Martin Luther King Jr.'s speeches and by John Lewis's book "Walking With the Wind." In case you're not up on your Bible, "Golgotha" refers to the place of the skull, where Jesus was crucified, or according to Webster, "a place of agony or suffering."
The piano begins reversed, but mid-way through the song, it switches forward, symbolizing progression and growth. I remember keeping that piano in tune was a holy terror.
Golgotha Lyrics
Fell 3 times at the foot of a hill
where strange fruit's growing in the cypress tree.
Forgive them father for wanting to kill;
they're not ready to leave their slavery.
Eloi... Eloi...
The Truth is buried in a shallow grave
where the ends and means don't separate.
We're segregated, but you're enslaved
by your anger, blindness, bias, fear, and hate.
Eloi... Eloi...
I have a dream
that we will all learn to live together as brothers
and all flesh will see it together.
Eloi.... Eloi...
