PBJ

Nostrum for poor digestion

PBJ : Info

That's Peanut Butter and Jelly, for those of you who were wondering... jeez... what'd YOU eat when you were growing up? The song is all about the crazy stuff people eat, of course, but I actually did not write it in China... it would have been much more risque if I had. Oh, just for fun, certain cannibal tribes in Polynesia referred to man flesh as "long pig." Ha ha... the other OTHER white meat. All potatoes originated in South America where they were grown by the Incas... and if anyone has ever eaten pickled watermelon rinds, please let me know. My parents have had a jar of them in their cupboard since... y'know. They should rent that stuff out to Hollywood for movies or something.

I finished the lyrics for this April 11th, 2000 while in Japan. The music was hastily put together the day I recorded the song. It borrows from "Dueling Banjos," and yes, I did get permission and paid the publisher a fee for the use, which is the reason why I can't include and audio clip here. Many thanks to Beth Kellerhals, Anonymous, and Eric Henry for helping me with voiceovers.

PBJ : Lyrics

One day old man hunger came knockin' on my door
but he was cravin' things I'd never seen before.
The 'fridge.... it opened! The cupboard.... it stirred!
And so much stuff came flying out it left my senses blurred!

Seaweed and caviar and chunks of yak fondue,
head cheese and leg of frog and briny brown tofu
Termites and boiled cud and bowls of bird's nest soup
And I swear that somewhere some guy's even cooking POOP!

Gimme a PB and J - The emblem of the US of A
'cuz I won't eat what I can't spell, no matter how good it smells!
So Gimme a PB and J.

I said: "You can't eat all that! It don't even LOOK like food!
Them giblets are stale... and that egg is FERTILIZED!
And them pickled watermelon rinds have been in there since 1984!"
He replied: "You piiiiiiicky American boy!

Long pig and inca root and salted eye of newt,
sushi and chocolate ants and testicles with fruit:
it's all yummy and good and fun, you'll WANT to lick the spoon,
'cuz beggars can't be choosers and you'll be hungry soon!"

Gimme a PB and J - The emblem of the US of A
'cuz I won't eat what I can't spell, no matter how good it smells!
So Gimme a PB and J.

spoken:
Aren't eggs like chicken ovaries or something?
And milk.... oh man, there goes ice-cream.
You know, honey is actually bee vomit.
Um... this song doesn't make me hungry.

Gimme a PB and J - The emblem of the US of A
'cuz I won't eat what I can't spell, no matter how good it smells!
So Gimme a PB and J.
